More Information About Rachelle Lefevre Suing Summit

Twilight actress Rachelle Lefevre is preparing to take movie bosses to court in a dispute over pay following her dismissal from the vampire film franchise.


The redhead, who plays villainous vampire Victoria in the box office smash and its upcoming sequel New Moon, was left "stunned" and "deeply hurt" when studio executives at Summit Entertainment announced she was being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the third film, Eclipse.


Producers claimed Lefevre failed to tell them in advance that she had signed up to star in independent movie Barney's Version and that shooting on the project would overlap with production on Eclipse.


Explaining their decision earlier this week (29Jul09), they said, "Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production."


Now the fall out is about to turn ugly - Lefevre has called in her lawyers to secure the salary she was due to receive for the third installment of the Twilight films, citing breach of contract.


She alleges her agreement with Summit Entertainment allows her to pursue small independent films while still being involved in the vampire franchise.


One source tells Eonline's Marc Malkin, "Rachelle's contract says she's allowed to do smaller projects like Barney's Version."


But studio bosses are claiming otherwise and insist Lefevre is owed nothing.

According to a report, actress Rachelle Lefevre, who plays Victoria the vampire, is filing a lawsuit against Summit Entertainment for firing her in the middle of the series.


However, Summit claims that they’ve done nothing wrong, and that Lefevre’s film schedule made it difficult to continue to include her on the upcoming projects.

An insider has revealed that Lefevre’s “Twilight” costars are all devastated that she got the axe, but they’re not protesting for fear of being replaced as well.

My Theory Of Why Summit Replaced Rachelle Lefevre!

Hey Guys, most of you were asking why summit replaced Rachelle for only 10 days schedule conflict and when Cam Gigandet had a schedule conflict they shot his scenes first! well I think because the other movie Cam Was shooting then "Never Back Down" is summit's production so maybe that's why they didn't replace Cam back then! I am not defending summit in anyway it's just a theory and I liked sharing it with you guys.

They don't call it The Twilight Saga for no reason, as some major behind-the-scenes drama has developed over the past 24 hours as the franchise's third installment, Eclipse, nears the start of production later next month. It all started innocently enough when it was announced that actress Bryce Dallas Howard was replacing Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria in Eclipse after the latter actress played the part for the first two films. Supposedly, Lefevre had some scheduling conflicts and so on and so forth. These things happen, right? No biggie.

Well, Lefevre wasn't having that. After the casting swap was a done deal, the gal went and sent a letter to Entertainment Weekly explaining the whole mess – telling them, in part, that she "turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules." In short, there was a 10-day overlap between Eclipse and another film she was doing, and because of that they canned her.

Now whether or not Summit Entertainment used this tiny 10-day window as an excuse to bring in a more well-known actress is yet to be seen, but after Lefevre made that move the studio countered with a long-winded press release explaining themselves. Here's a little piece of awesomeness from their statement: "Ms. Lefevre's representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August. • If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes 'passionate,' about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE."

If you ask me, Summit should've just called her a big fat total loser, gave her the middle finger and walked away. That would've been, like, totally rad. But seriously, is it just me or is this whole thing a little immature? She's an unknown actress and they're a major studio. Who cares why or how or whose feelings are hurt? Just show us the darn movies and be done with it!

Summit responds to Rachelle’s statement

We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.

If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.
