Wesley turns himself in!

OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Actor Wesley Snipes is now in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons after being ordered to prison on tax evasion charges.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Snipes is "In Transit" and his inmate register number is 43355-018.

The 48-year old had requested a new trial, but the motion was denied by a federal judge.

On Friday a federal judge ordered Snipes to surrender to authorities so he can begin serving a three-year prison sentence for tax related crimes. U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges rejected a motion by the actor's attorneys to review the actor's sentence and their request for a new trial. Snipes has been free on bond while appealing.

The 48-year-old star of the "Blade" trilogy and Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever" was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file his income tax returns.

The Orlando-born actor previously appealed his conviction when a key witness against Snipes -- former financial adviser Kenneth Starr -- was himself convicted of fraud.

But this July, a federal appeals panel in Atlanta upheld the three-year sentence for Snipes.

He had been free on bond throughout the appeal process.
